Hemdat Sagi is an open innovation and business development expert with special focus on the German-Israeli business and startup ecosystem ties.
In 2016 Hemdat joined hy- the Axel Springer ecosystem firm as Director of the Israeli branch in Tel Aviv, facilitating and designing digital transformation projects and programs for global corporates wishing to tap into the the Israeli Innovation ecosystem.
In her previous role, between the years 2012-2016 Hemdat served as the Commercial Attaché and Head of the Economic and Trade Mission at the Israeli Embassy in Berlin. In this role Hemdat was responsible for enhancing and maintaining the trade relations between Germany and Israel, through business development activities, facilitation of R&D collaborations and individual assistance and consultancy to hundreds of Israeli companies.
Prior to her diplomatic role in Berlin, between 2008-2012, Hemdat served as head of branch at the Israeli Foreign Trade Administration, a government division responsible for formulating and implementing Israel’s foreign trade policy and for promoting Israeli business abroad. During her tenure, Hemdat served as head of the India- China fund, a 25 million euro government budgeted program, aimed to expand and diversify Israeli exports to Asia.
Between the years 2005 and 2008, Hemdat served as a parliamentary assistant to two members of Knesset, advising on governmental, legislation, political and media issues.
Hemdat holds two degrees in Law (LL.B, LL.M) from Bar Ilan University and received her license to practice law at the year 2004. In 2016, Hemdat graduated the ESMT School of Management and Technology in Berlin and received a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Management.
Hemdat is a member of the 2015-2016 Bertelsmann Stiftung “German- Israeli Young Leaders Exchange” program.
Hemdat was born in Israel and currently resides in Tel Aviv.
