Born in Stuttgart in 1965, Christoph Mohn completed a business management apprenticeship before graduating in business administration from the University of Münster. From 1992 to 1994 he worked at Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) in New York.
From 1994 to 1996, Mohn worked at the consulting group McKinsey & Company, mainly in the Electronics and Telecommunications sectors. In 1996, he joined the Bertelsmann subsidiary Telemedia as Vice President of Business Development and Marketing. From 1997 to 2009 he served as CEO of Lycos Europe, which was formed as a joint venture with US-based Lycos Inc.
Having attended meetings as a guest on a regular basis since 2003, Christoph Mohn became a member of the Bertelsmann AG Supervisory Board in 2006. He is also a Bertelsmann Verwaltungsgesellschaft (BVG) partner and Chairman of the Executive Board of the Reinhard Mohn Foundation. On 1 January 2013 Christoph Mohn took over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Bertelsmann.
